Hello! My name is Max. I'm currently a Machine Learning Engineer at Expedia Group. I work in the Fraud and Risk department where I spend my time experimenting with different features and implement pipelines to predict fraud at scale and train models. Before this, I spent my college years at Carnegie Mellon University where I majored in Applied Math, and minored in Computer Science. I spent my time at CMU studying mathematical finance, computer systems, traditional mathematics, and machine learning. I am originally from Durham, North Carolina where I attended Durham Academy. Outside of work and school, I love basketball and music. I am a huge Portland Trail Blazers fan, so while I'm sidelined from playing with a torn ACL, I have been trying to write about the team and build a following on SubStack (please follow).
